Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

This policy explains what Shattered Tear Music collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes what the site actually does, not what a template says a website might do.

Who we are

Shattered Tear Music, PO Box 708, Edinboro, PA 16412. You can reach us at contact@shatteredtearmusic.com.

What we collect

When you send us a message

Our contact forms collect the name, email address, subject and message you type in. It also records the IP address the message came from and the page you sent it from, which we use to catch automated spam.

This is stored in this website’s own database and emailed to us. We keep it so we can read and reply to your message, and so a message is not lost if the email fails to arrive.

When you buy something

An order records your name, email address, billing and shipping address, a phone number if you give one, what you ordered and what you paid. It is stored in this website’s database and emailed to us. We use it to fill the order, to reach you about it, and as our record of the sale.

You can check out as a guest or create an account. An account keeps the same details and your order history so you do not have to type them again.

Card numbers never reach this website. Payment is handled by Square (card, Cash App Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay) or PayPal (PayPal, Venmo and Pay Later) on their own systems. They receive what they need to take the payment, and their own privacy policies govern what they do with it.

When an order ships, the carrier receives the name and address on the label.

When you just browse

We do not run analytics or advertising on this site, and nothing here is sent to an advertising company.

The store sets cookies. A cart cookie and a session cookie keep your cart and checkout working. WooCommerce also sets cookies that record how you reached the site, such as the page that linked you here, and attaches that to an order you place so we can see where our orders come from.

Our web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, as part of running and securing the site.

Spam filtering, and what we deliberately do not do

Our forms do not use reCAPTCHA or any other third-party captcha. That means nothing about you is sent to another company in order to decide whether you are a person, and you are never asked to solve a puzzle.

Instead we check for automated submissions using a hidden field, a signed timestamp, a check that scripts ran in your browser, a limit on links, and a limit on how many messages one address can send in an hour. All of it happens on our own server.

Content from other companies

The artists section of this site embeds music players from Spotify. When one of those players loads, Spotify receives your IP address and can set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited Spotify directly. We do not control that and we do not receive any data back from it. Spotify’s own privacy policy governs what they do with it.

Product, cart and checkout pages load payment code from Square, PayPal, Apple and Google so their buttons work. Those companies receive your IP address when that code loads, as if you had visited them directly.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Messages you send us are handled by our email provider in the course of delivering them, and are stored on the server that runs this website. We will disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as we may need them to deal with your inquiry, subject to a retention period set in the site’s settings. Orders are kept as the business record of a sale, for accounting. Server logs are kept on the normal rotation for the server.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@shatteredtearmusic.com and we will act on it.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to complain to a regulator.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
